Welcome
Optimizing Health Care
Do you need assistance in optimizing your health care organization?
My background for doing consultancy in
health care organizations is based on a profound knowledge
gained from my practical professional working experiences and my
academic training. I use what I call the healthcare triangle
approach. The triangle represents the three perspectives of my
three university degrees - the individual patient perspective
(MD), the administration/economical perspective (MPA) and the
public health perspective (MPH). >

Discrete Event Simulation
When we are unable to experiment with the ‘real
world’ could experiments in the ‘virtual world’ be the solution?
A research interest of mine is the use of Discrete Event
Simulation (DES) in health care. Two elements are needed to
apply simulation. The first is that a system has been identified
for investigation and the second element is that there is a
problem relating to the system that needs to be corrected (for
example waiting time and/or other failures in the system). The
beauty of using DES is that it is all virtual; the healthcare
system is unaffected while you do the experiments, and hence
patients’ safety is not affected by the experimentation. >
